The wall fan coil is one of the fan coils that is used as a part of the air conditioning system. The fan coil, as its name implies, is made of coils and fans, which, of course, together with pumps and pipes, are responsible for ventilation and controlling the air temperature.
The structure of the fan coil is not a complex structure, so there is a great variety in the way it is made and, consequently, in the way the fan coils are placed and installed. For example, floor, wall and ceiling fan coils are examples of fan coils that are divided according to location.
These fan coils can be installed surface or built-in, which means that the fan coil can be inside the wall, hiding its entire structure except the valve and only the valve can be seen by the viewer. It is also possible for the fan coil to be installed as a whole outside the wall or as a stand on the ground. Wall and floor fan coils are called the same, respectively.
The wall fan coil is mounted horizontally on the wall itself and in fact the place closest to the ceiling or under the ceiling horizontally. This fan coil is quite clear and not only the valve, but also the building itself is visible and protrudes from the wall. Because of this placement, they may be confused with air conditioners or splits.
If we want to deal with the main functions of the wall fan, we must say that the wall fan, like any other fan coil, is a part of the air conditioning system, so it must be able to regulate and control the temperature, regulate and control humidity, airflow and ventilation. How a wall fan coil works is that several rows of parallel, curved tubes called coils become a bed for the movement of fluid or hot and cold water. Inlet and outlet valves are provided for this water. There is also a fan in this set that moves and rotates depending on the required temperature. It can be said that most fan coils have the same structure, including ground, wall and ceiling fan coils.
In the warm seasons of the year, cold water enters the coil and the interior cools it. The hot air drawn into the coil by the suction valve strikes these surfaces and reduces the temperature, then returns to the environment. Of course, it should be noted that the fan coil itself does not define the source of fluid or water, and this source accompanies the fan coil in the form of a boiler or package to be the source of water.
Some fan coils have ducts that can connect the air inside a building to the air outside, but fan ducts without a wall, such as a wall, simply circulate the air inside the building.
Another feature of the wall fan coil is the possibility of choosing its direction. Of course, the most common type is in the form of a face, but there are other models for it.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of wall fan coils?
It can be said that the wall fan coil is in the middle position, and for every advantage I have, there is a problem with every subject. Depending on the type of use and the characteristics of the installation environment, the features can be turned into advantages or disadvantages. For this reason, we will examine the advantages and disadvantages of a wall fan coil at the same time:
Since wall fan coils are placed on the wall itself, they can attract some attention and be part of the decoration of the space. This feature can be both negative and can play a role in improving the appearance of the space. For example, if we are faced with a traditional environment with an old texture, this type of fan coil with this appearance disturbs the harmony in that space and takes it out of harmony and integrity, because suddenly today’s effects to space have given.
But at the same time, in places that have a modern look, this form of fan coil can act in the direction of the appearance of that space and not only does not disturb its harmony but also enhances its stylish, simple and modern appearance.
Wall fan coils do not occupy the space inside the room or environment and are only mounted on the wall. For this reason, there is no need to worry about narrow space for this type of fan coils. Of course, mounting on a wall also takes up space on its own, but the small and appropriate volume of wall fans is not in a way that is completely clear and does not use part of the space. On the other hand, for smaller and more limited spaces, the same issue can be problematic.
Since wall fan coils are easily mounted on the wall and are surface mounted, they do not need to damage the wall of the building. This does not undermine the advantages of the wall-mounted fan coil, making it ready to use for any location, such as banks, offices, hotels, apartments, reception halls, restaurants, and more.
Common Problems Of Wall Fan Coil
Ventilation is one of the essential tasks required to maintain the fan coil and maintain its function. It is best to ventilate before restarting the fan coils. Lack of ventilation affects the performance of the fan coil. In fact, fan coil failure and malfunction can occur for two reasons:
- Existence of sediment in the heating coil
- Air entering the coil
As air enters the fan, the fluid flow will not be the same as before. At first, the fluid flow will slow down and then it will be disrupted over time. This can be persistent and exacerbated. In this way and in the continuation of this issue; Constant contact of the fluid with the metal alloys of the coil causes corrosion of the coil tubes and fouling. Other problems with lack of ventilation include chemical reactions inside the fan coil.
In the past, a screw was installed on the devices for ventilation, but today, vent valves are used for this purpose. But for some fan coils, such as wall fan coils, this is not possible. In fact, some vent coils are not installed on some wall fan coils. Therefore, ventilation in-wall fan coils can not be done through the ventilation valve and by the owner of the device. This requires the help of an experienced repairman.
